From September 26th to 28th, I joined Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty brokers Blake Ruud-Johnson, Katherine Hansen and Jason Gibbons at the 2018 Washington REALTORS® Fall Business Conference, working on issues that impact real estate brokers and current and future homeowners in Washington State. Over the three-day event, we were updated on the association’s latest effort to amend the Washington State Condominium Act and provide more affordable condominiums to the general public, learned about new laws including the Washington Uniform Common Interest Ownership Act (WUCIOA), and furthered their education on how to be better real estate agents.

Blake and I were thrilled to attend a special course on Ombudsman, a very little-known program that trains Ombudsman to help create informal “mediation” between complaints that are made between Realtors or from a member of the public regarding a Realtor.

It was a great conference and we made good headway with the condominium act. I hope we can continue to make progress with fixing the law so that more affordable condominiums can be built. We need more options for first-time homebuyers and people looking to downsize; this will help lead us into balanced inventory.
